In my 8 years doing bridal hair and makeup, I can actually remember a lot. I keep up with a lot of my brides on Facebook. I get to watch and see them become wives and then mothers. Some of them now come to see me at the salon as their stylist. Occasionally I run into them at the grocery store or even at another wedding as a referral.
But without a doubt, Lauren will be a bride that I never, ever forget. From first email, she was kind and sweet spirited. She told me from the get go that I would have limited hair to work with as she had just lost hers due to treatment and was in the process of regrowing it. Shortly before the trial, she emailed to let me know that she had to have some radiation done and had lost all the hair she had been growing. She wanted to let me know I would know be styling a wig. Always wanting to be honest, I told her that I had never done a wig style, but I would give it my absolute best shot. Lauren emailed back that she had full confidence in me and I knew then that I would try my absolutle best to make sure it was perfect.
When she came in for her trial, she came in with a smile, a sweet demeanor and a beautiful hairless head. She showed me her pictures of what she really wanted and we set to work.
She told me her story of how she and her fiancé met and how she was first diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer just days before her thirtieth birthday. Most recently, she had been through treatment on her brain. She wasn't sad, she didn't feel sorry for herself, she wasn't embarrassed in the least by her lack of hair or the after effects that the radiation had on her beautiful skin. She radiated beauty in confidence, outlook on life and peaceful disposition.
With her permission, I share with you the photos from her wedding.
